You Had Me at Chocolate Chip Cookies

Boston Chocolate School is proud to partner with Kitchen Millie to offer our newest class:

You Had Me at Chocolate Chip Cookies on June 20th!

Who doesn’t love a fresh-from-the-oven cookie, oozing with melty chocolate? If you enjoy living the cookie life like we do join us to learn how to make Kitchen Millie’s signature two-bite cookies! Fresh, soft, and incredibly delicious, we’ll walk through all the steps to making the perfect cookie that’s just the right size to have one (or 5) and get right back at it.

Kitchen Millie was founded by Michelle Wax, a determined entrepreneur who left the tech world to turn her childhood lemonade stand into the cookie startup that is taking Boston by storm. As part of this class, you’ll get a chance to pick her brain on the food startup life while munching on two-bite treats!

What you’ll do/learn:

The class is held at The Local Fare, a shared commercial space in Arlington. We’ll start with a history of how KM got started and some fun facts about The Local Fare and Kitchen Millie, including some FAQs about food startups in general. Then, we will walk through all the steps to making a delicious cookie, from how to best soften butter (and how soft it should be!) to the art of rolling dough balls, to getting the perfect bake. We’ll finish with a taste test of the cookies, with each participant making a platter of 3 dozen cookies to take home — or eat in the car!

Depending on the group size, we’ll split into two teams for each recipe, with each group tackling wet or dry ingredients (and then switching for the next recipe so everyone gets to learn it all!)

Menu:

We’re all about chocolate over here, so we’ll make our three most popular flavors featuring this delicious sweet:

– The Unrivaled Classic: classic chocolate chip, featuring New England’s original Toll House chocolate chips

– The Velvet Rush: a double whammy – chocolate cookie flooded with chocolate chips

– The Flourless Blitz: peanut butter base with a hint of bittersweet Taza Chocolate on top

About the Teacher:

Michelle Wax founded Kitchen Millie in 2015 with a few hundred dollars and a drive to bring her childhood dream to reality. Since launching, she co-founded The Local Fare, a kitchen incubator for small business brands to help them launch and grow and wrote The Attainable Dream, a field guide for people who want to start their own small business.

Michelle is a winner of Beta Boston’s 25 under 25 award and has been featured in dozens of publications, including The Boston Globe and ABC WCVB Channel 5.
